Kitchen cabinet refinishing
Your cabinet boxes are sound; it's the finish that's tired. We give them a new one without tearing out a kitchen.
Houston kitchens collect cooking grease on the frames near the stove and humidity on the doors near the sink. Both have to come off before anything new goes on, and that is most of what we do.

Prep
Prep comes before color
Most finishes fail because of what was under them. This is the list we work down on every kitchen.
Degrease
Cooking oil leaves a film paint won't hold to. Frames near the stove get washed twice.
Scuff and sand
A fine sanding gives the primer something to grip, with the dust drawn off as we go.
Fill and repair
Old hinge holes, dings and open grain are filled and sanded flat.
Mask and protect
Floors, counters, appliances and walls are covered, then uncovered each evening.
Prime
A bonding primer on every surface, chosen for the wood or laminate underneath.
Number and bag
Each door gets a number that matches its opening, and the hinges go in a labeled bag.
Part by part
What happens to each part
- Shop
Doors
Taken to the shop, degreased, sanded, primed and sprayed on both sides, then dried on racks.
- Shop
Drawer fronts
Finished in the same booth as the doors, so the sheen and color match across the kitchen.
- Your kitchen
Frames and end panels
Done in your kitchen by brush and fine roller, which is why the stove and sink stay in use.
- Both
Hardware
Hinges and pulls come off, are bagged by opening and go back on. New pulls are a line of their own.
- Optional
Interiors
Left alone unless you ask; a second color inside is its own line on the price.
Cabinet questions
Will the oak grain show through the paint?
Yes, unless it's filled. Honey oak has deep grain. We can fill it for a smooth look, which is its own line on the price, or leave it for a painted-wood look. We bring samples of both.
Can you paint laminate or thermofoil?
Sometimes. They need a bonding primer and a look at the edges first. Send photos, and we tell you if it will hold. If it won't, we say so before taking a deposit.
Does Houston humidity change the schedule?
It can. Humid days slow drying and curing, so doors dry indoors on racks and we may add a day between coats. The data sheet says how long the finish needs before hard use, and we tell you when to go gently.
What wears first on a refinished cabinet?
The edges you touch most: by the sink, the cooktop and the pulls. We write your color name and sheen on the back of the sink-base door so you can order matching touch-up paint.
Who buys the paint, and which paint is it?
We do; it's in the price. It's a premium cabinet-grade enamel in matte, satin or semi-gloss. Ask for the product data sheet and we send it with the written price.
