A sample written quote

How a kitchen price adds up

Two examples of what we send you, with every line counted. Your quote counts your doors and carries your days.

  • A medium kitchen

    Most kitchens

24 doors, 10 drawer fronts and the frames, with a pantry cabinet.

    • 24 doors, both sides, sprayed in our shop
    • 10 drawer fronts
    • Frames, end panels and pantry, in your kitchen
    • Hardware off and back on
    • Covering and cleanup, each day

Six working days, written on the quote. Payment schedule and warranty terms are on the quote.

  • A small kitchen

12 doors, 6 drawer fronts and the frames.

    • 12 doors, both sides, sprayed in our shop
    • 6 drawer fronts
    • Frames and end panels, in your kitchen
    • Hardware off and back on
    • Covering and cleanup, each day

Four working days, written on the quote.

Repairs we find once the doors are off are priced and agreed with you before we do them.

What moves the number

Six things that change a kitchen's price

  • The door count

Each door and drawer front is finished on both sides, so the count is the biggest line.

  • Open oak grain

Filling grain for a smooth finish takes extra days; leaving it shows the wood.

  • The color change

Going from dark stain to white often needs another coat of primer.

  • Grease and wear

A heavily used kitchen takes longer to degrease and repair.

  • Interiors and islands

A second color inside, or on an island, is a line of its own.

  • Hardware

Taking yours off and back on is included; new pulls and hinges are priced by the piece.

How the number arrives

From your photos to a written price

  • Photos

Three by text: the whole kitchen, the cabinets with doors open and one close-up of a door.

  • A visit, if needed

When the photos can't settle the count, Adela comes to your kitchen and counts.

  • The written price

Doors, repairs, coats, color, days and payment schedule in one message, before any deposit.

Price questions

What isn't in the price?

New hardware, replacing a swollen or broken door, cabinet interiors in a second color, walls and ceilings, and repairs we only find once the doors are off. Each is a line you approve before we do it.

How do the deposit and payments work?

We ask for a deposit before the doors come off. The amount and the schedule are written on your price, and the balance is due when you've walked the kitchen with us and signed off.

What does the warranty cover?

Our written warranty covers peeling and chipping that come from our work, not daily wear or water damage. Terms, limits and exclusions are in your written warranty.

Who buys the paint, and which paint is it?

We do; it's in the price. It's a premium cabinet-grade enamel in matte, satin or semi-gloss. Ask for the product data sheet and we send it with the written price.

Can you price from photos?

Usually. Send three photos: the whole kitchen, the cabinets with doors open and one close of a door front. If the photos aren't enough, Adela comes to count the doors in person.
